A compliment thought but not shared is a missed opportunity to remind someone that they are special.
Whenever I happen to wear a new dress and I am not sure how it looks on me, generally I am anxious till the time I don’t receive my first compliment. For that matter, anything I do, the compliments I receive makes my confidence increase twofold and it reassures me. When I was growing up I thought I was the only one who needed that reassurance as I was low on my confidence. So, I never used to bother giving anyone else any compliment, thinking that the other person is sure of herself or himself. But, as I was growing up, I realized whatever the outer demeanor each and every one needs to hear compliment now and again to boost their confidence and for lots of reassurance.
Sometimes, we are so busy with our work routine and suddenly someone compliments you, there are high chances that you would be taken aback and think, “Oh, seriously, you like the work I am doing!” and then you would think about the task a little more and chances are that you might further improve your task since you would want that compliment again.
Even after a couple of year’s marriage when a husband compliments his wife now and then, and vice versa, it’s a sign that the romance is still present in their busy life. For example, If the husband just keeps the compliment to himself saying, “I’ll tell her later what’s the rush, maybe after I retire I’ll give her, her due time and tell her how much I appreciate her, and love her”, or “she already knows I find her beautiful, what is the use telling her again and again”. In this case, the wife would be feeling worthless because she might feel, “Maybe the work I am doing is so trivial that no one is observing it, resulting in the low self - esteem/ self - worth”, or “Does he still find me beautiful? I hope I haven’t aged? I hope he isn’t attracted to someone else”.
There is no right or wrong time to compliment anyone. Everyone needs confidence even if he is a super star or an ordinary person. People do so many things to be noticed, to be liked, to be complimented. Remember how you need to feel special every now and then, put your hats (ego) down and share a compliment with the person you have just given a compliment in your mind or thought.
Compliment Others Openly, Freely, And From Your Heart.
